Pridevi koji opisiju ukus i ličnost



U engleskom jeziku postoje reči koje mogu opisati i ličnost i ukus hrane. Koja reč vam prva pada na pamet?

Sweet

Sigurno vam je prvo pao na pamet pridev "sweet". Na primer sweet cake, ali i sweet girl.


Još primera vezanih za hranu

  • This ice cream is too sweet for me.

  • I only drink sweet wine once in a while.


"Sweet" znači kao i na srpskom da je neko ,,sladak", dopadljiv ali znači i "gentle" or "caring."

  • Jenny is such a sweet lady. She checks on the elderly people in her neighborhood all of the time.

  • She was very sweet to me when I needed help.

Bitter

"Bitter" je antonim za "sweet", znači nešto što je gorko, such as dark chocolate.

  • This coffee is quite bitter.

Koristimo "bitter" i da opišemo trenutno raspoloženje osobe koja je besna i smatra da nije fer tretirana. Takođe i nekog ko generalno ima gorak i loš stav prema svemu,

  • Even though she was very successful, she was also very bitter and couldn't stop focusing on negative things.

Dry

Opisujemo sa pridevom "dry" hranu koja je suva(dry bread, pie, fruit, etc.). Ako pričamo o alkoholnim pićima , znači da nisu slatka (dry wine, etc.).

  • Every time my dad barbecues, he overcooks the meat and it gets dry.

  • I'm looking for a bottle of dry red wine.

Ako koristimo "dry" da opišemo osobu, znači da je osoba neizainteresovana ili neemapatična i ne pokazuje svoje emocije.

  • He has a pretty dry personality; he never shows what's on his mind.

Dok "dry sense of humor" je humor pun sarkazma.

She's got a very dry sense of humor, so it can be difficult to tell when she's joking sometimes.

Salty

"Salty" znači presoljeno.

  • Mom, the fish is too salty today.

"Salty" koristimo u slengu da opišemo nekog ko je kao "bitter".

  • He's salty because he lost the match.

  • She got really salty because her boss asked her to come to the office on her day off.

Sour

Kad hrana ima opor, kiseo ukus, koristimo "sour".

Takođe ovaj pridev koiristmo da opišemo hranu koja jer je dugo stajala nema dobar ukus(sour milk, sour cheese, etc).

  • I put too much lemon in my drink and now it's too sour.

Koristimo za opisivanje ljudi kad neko nije "friendly" i raspoložen,

  • Our boss is in a sour mood today. I would wait until later to speak with her.

  • He's a movie critic and is famous for his sour attitude and strict reviews.

Vanilla

Da li ste znali da "vanilla" u engleskom jeziku može da se koristi i kao pridev? Kao pridev označava nešto što je prosečno.

  • John is a nice guy, but he's a bit vanilla; he doesn't take many risks or try anything new.

  • Mary's presentation was professional and organized, but it was also too vanilla. She didn't add any unique or interesting ideas to the discussion.

Rich

Svi znamo osnovno značenje prideva ali da li možemo da ga koristimo i da opišemo hranu? U pitanju je hrana bogata sastojcima koji brzo zasićuju.


  • This ice cream has a rich chocolate flavor.

Cheesy

Očigledno, hrana puna sira.

  • This pizza is so cheesy!

Dok "cheesy" u smilu opisivanja filmora, šala, znači da je nešto "inappropiate"(neprikladno) i "silly".

  • All of his cheesy jokes embarrassed everybody.

Takođe može da znači da je nešto previše emotivno, naglašeno.

  • That movie was so cheesy. Who wrote all of that horrible dialogue?

"Cheesy smile" je osmeh koji nije iskren.

  • The politician waved at the crowd with a big, cheesy smile on his face.
